||Feline Urinary Syndrome - Tiger's Success
Story: Giving our cat apple cider vinegar
||Tiger is a 8-year-old Maine
male cat that developed urinary
tract problems gradually over the course of years. Feline Urinary Syndrome
may be caused from different types of crystals
develop in a cat's urinary tract, which inflame, irritate and cause
pain. We deduced
this was Tiger's
problem because of his abnormal behavior (not wanting to use his litter
tray) and his decreased ability to void. There was
also a noticeable tinge of blood in his urine.
As a consequence of the discomfort, Tiger had an aversion to using
tray. This was very problematic.
In addition, Tiger began to
lose weight and his energy ebbed. He often seemed
confused and non-responsive when we called him. One evening
noticed that Tiger had a slight fever. Our cat was sick and
was in trouble.
Urolithiasis is the technical
name of the condition where
minerals from the diet precipitate out into the urine and form stones. One possible cause of the
formation of stones
is the pH of the catís food. This
necessarily a reflection on the quality of the food, but is an
indicator that a lower pH value (more acidic) is needed by that breed
cat. In addition,
studies show that cats that are obese tend to need a lower pH value
(more acidic) food. Urolithiasis is potentially
life-threatening; as this condition can become quite severe.
the stones become larger and more numerous, this can result in
blockage of the urinary tract.
This condition is especially dangerous for male cats. They can die if this is not
corrected quickly. We gave him this same dose every
30 to 40 minutes for about 3 hours. By
bedtime he was much more active, alert and happier than we had seen
him all day.
We read on a blog at earthclinic.com that a dilution of apple cider
vinegar and water can be given to your cat and that it will often
dramatically relieve symptoms .
With great hope, we mixed a ratio of 1 part apple cider vinegar and 4
parts water in a small container. The actual mixture was 1/2
tsp acv to 2 tsp water. We filled a eye-dropper with this
mixture (approximately 16 to 20 drops) and gave it to our cat. We did
this by placing the
tip of the dropper in the corner of his mouth (near where his teeth
hinge together) and we squirted it into the back of his mouth.
cat was not fond of this mixture; but tolerated it.
Within 1 hour he perked up a little and even began purring
Tiger received another dropperful at 5:00 a.m. and again at 8:00 a.m. at which time he was running
around playing like
a young kitten again. Apparently the apple cider vinegar was helping our cat immensely.
Since that time, we give Tiger a dropperful of apple cider vinegar and
water 2 or 3 times a day. He is gradually gaining back weight, his coat is
shinier and thicker and his eyes look bright again.
We are telling this story because it may help you if you own
cat that may have the same problem. It can be heart-breaking to
see your cat suffer and it is totally needless when there is such an
easy and affordable answer that is readably available.
understand that I am not a veterinarian or medical
specialist; but, I do know that this has helped my cat
dramatically! So, if
your cat has Feline Urinary Syndrome, try giving apple cider vinegar and water!
Remember to also keep a
clean supply of drinking water
available for your pet and in addition keep your catís litter tray
and in an accessible area.
Ratio of apple cider
vinegar and water is
1 part to 4 parts:
Apple cider vinegar = 1/2 tsp and Water = 2 tsp. of water.
Emergency Dose: Give 1 dropperful of the above mixture every 30 to 40
Maintenance Dose: Give this same mixture 2 or 3 times a day.

on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of
trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit
fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for
them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food,
and their leaves for healing.
